New year's resolutions?

It’s that time of year again. We contemplate what our new year's resolutions will be with full bellies and happy festive memories of another year gone by. Perhaps you’re venturing into dry January? Depriving yourself from your favourite biscuits or vowing to take out that ‘No joining Fee’ gym membership.
Well listen up dear reader… we’ve a new plan this season. Rather than stopping things...why not start things!

Stop eyeing up those biscuits - Instead, start something new this January. That thing you’ve been putting off.. that you’ll ‘Get round to doing...’ now is the time! Embrace the month of stopping with the season of starting!

Of course here at Carus there is a number one new hobby we would recommend you take us this January… Golfing! Of course we may be slightly biased… but here’s our top five reasons to head out onto the course this January...

5 reasons to take up golf this January…


It’s good for you! Golfing is good for your health and great for you heart. Walking an average course for one round of golf can be between 5 to 7 kilometers!

Fresh air

There’s nothing like filling your lungs with some good country air. Fresh Air helps your immune system fight off disease more effectively due to healthier white blood cells. So wash away those January blues and head outside!

Learn a new skill

What better time to take on a new challenge and learn a new skill than January!

Take time out

It’s important to take some time out for you. The joy of walking in the fresh air, socialising, with an added mental challenge means golf releases endorphins, which make us happy and calm.

Keeping an activity brain

Clive Ballard, director of research at the Alzheimer’s Society, said, 'Whether it is going for a jog or walking the golf course, keeping physically active is a great way to keep your heart and your brain healthy. By keeping active you make sure your brain has a good, strong blood supply, which is essential to help it function better now and in future.”
